REMEMBERING ELISE KLEIN
The Board of ConnTESOL mourns the passing of their devoted colleague, Elise Klein. Elise was a former ConnTESOL President and Board member, and a lifelong advocate for ESL students and educators. Elise founded Teachers against Prejudice www.teachersagainstprejudice.org, served as a teacher trainer, and conducted workshops promoting peace education, social responsibility, and interfaith cooperation at conferences around the world. A tireless voice for justice and equality, Elise will be deeply missed.

A public memorial celebrating Elise’s life and work is planned for Spring 2010. Details will be shared as they become available.

TESOL ADVOCACY
ConnTESOL was chosen as one of 18 state affiliates to participate in TESOL Advocacy Day 2009. The focus of this year's advocacy effort was funding for adult ESL education and the reauthorization of the Workforce Investment Act.
